"This was Horseshoe Theatre's first tour. I do hope they come back. Definitely top of the class."

"The Horseshoe production of 'Teechers' struck me as representing the play in a very energetic, and truthful way: funny, sensitive, and a role model for the largely student audience. The direction and acting were impressive."

Director's notes:

TEECHERS is a little gem - simple in structure but tightly and brilliantly written.

Godber stresses that the set should be minimal - he wanted to rely on the same bare essentials a drama teacher might have in school - kids, tables, chairs and an audience. As the central characters in 'Teechers' illustrate, once talent and creativity are tapped, anything can happen.

Godber also suggests three actors should play around 12 parts each. A daunting task for any actor, but once in rehearsal our cast realised how clearly each character was written, making our task a whole lot easier.

Though 'Teechers' is a comedy, it makes some sobering points about the struggle faced by some schools today. As Mr Nixon says, 'all kids deserve a chance'. Yet even the Mr Nixons of the world find it hard to resist the lure of a better resourced school. Godber attacks the message this gives to all the Gails, Saltys and Nobbys out there - who in Mr Nixon's drama classes found inspiration for the first time in their school career.

This is the second time I have directed 'Teechers' and yet again I have loved every minute. I hope you will too.
